Principals Message
Dear Families,
Welcome back to Term 4! I hope you all had a restful and refreshing break, and that students are returning ready for a positive and productive final term of the year. We are especially excited about the events and learning opportunities that this term will bring.
One of the most important responsibilities we hold as a school is ensuring the safety and wellbeing of every child in our care. At St Mary’s Maffra, child safety is at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment where all students feel valued, supported, and protected.
As part of this commitment, we uphold and implement the Victorian Child Safety Standards, which guide our policies, practices, and culture. These standards help us to ensure that our school is a safe place for children to learn, grow, and thrive.
On Friday 31st October, our school will take part in “Day for Daniel” – Australia's Biggest Child Safety Lesson. This national initiative, in honour of Daniel Morcombe, plays a vital role in educating children about personal safety, online safety, and how to seek help if they ever feel unsafe. Through age-appropriate lessons and discussions, students will learn important skills that empower them to look after themselves and each other.
We encourage families to continue these conversations at home, reinforcing the message that everyone has the right to feel safe and be safe. Thank you for partnering with us in supporting the safety and wellbeing of all our students.
Please enjoy a great weekend with your families.
Kind regards,
Julian
